Alicia Montalvo Alicia Montalvo holds a degree in Economics from the University of Madrid and a Master in Public Administration MPA2, from Harvard University (graduated in 1992)
State Chartered Economist and Trade Expert, since 1987, she is currently Director General at ICEX Spain Trade and Investment – Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness of Spain, with responsibility on Institutional matters as well as on Information and Training programs. She has also been Director of the Infrastructures, Environment, Energy and ICT Division at ICEX.
Prior to this post, she served as Director General of Climate Change in the Ministry of Environment (2008-2102) acting as lead negotiator of the Spanish Delegation to the UNFCCC and the EU. Before that, she developed her professional career in the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, serving as Deputy Director General for International Economy (2002-2008), being member of the Economic Policy Committee of the EU, as Director General for Trade and Investment and as Deputy Director General for External Debt and Technical Assistance.
She has been a visiting Professor of Natural Resources Economics at the University Carlos III of Madrid (1993-2000) and has written numerous published articles and made conference presentations on Environmental Economics, Climate Change and International Trade and Cooperation.
