Head of Buying North America, Lush Cosmetics
For over a decade, Heather Deeth has lead the Ethical Buying teams at Lush Cosmetics North America in building supplier networks which ensure Lush’s strict ethical standards on non-animal testing, fair pay and conditions for workers and reducing environmental impact are upheld and progressed throughout all levels of the supply chain.
Her work has taken her to the agricultural region of Northern Uganda, the argan forests of Morocco, the banks of the Amazon River, the ancient rainforests of Borneo and manufacturing facilities throughout Asia in search of the highest quality and sustainable materials that make a difference for the people and places they originate. In packaging, her team has embraced the use of 100% post consumer materials and circular economy in paper and plastics and are active industry leaders.
Starting in 2014, Lush has focused on long term projects designed to support economic growth and regeneration in areas that have suffered environmental degradation through conflict, climate change and natural disaster. Through the Sustainable Lush Fund, Heather’s team supports the creation of agroforestry systems to revitalize the local ecosystem, engages with farmers to create appropriate long-term development and builds value adding process close to where the ingredients are grown.
Throughout the pandemic and pandemic related supply chain challenges, her teams have worked tirelessly to ensure an ongoing supply of materials to Lush’s two factories and with the climate emergency intensifying also had a hard look towards how we can set a path towards more sustainable, equitable and just path forward.
